Terms & Conditions

The master agreement governing AMTA's social, voting and marketplace services.

1.1 Introduction

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of AMTA, a Nigerian-operated digital platform that combines social networking, online voting and competitions, and a marketplace for the sale and purchase of goods and services (“the Platform”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Platform, a user agrees to be bound by these Terms.

AMTA is operated to provide three integrated services under one account: a social feed for posting, following and messaging; a voting and competition system through which users may create polls, contests and public votes; and a marketplace through which registered vendors may list and sell products or services to other users. These Terms apply to every feature of the Platform unless a feature-specific policy states otherwise, in which case the more specific policy controls for that feature.

1.2 Acceptance of Terms

A user accepts these Terms by ticking the consent box at registration, by continuing to use the Platform after being notified of these Terms, or by using any paid or free feature of AMTA. Acceptance is required before an account can post content, cast or receive votes, or transact in the marketplace. Users who do not agree with any part of these Terms must not register for or use the Platform.

1.3 Modification of Terms

AMTA may amend these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the law, the Platform's features, or its business practices. Material changes will be communicated by in-app notice, email, or a banner on the website at least fourteen (14) days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date of an amendment constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms; a user who objects should stop using the Platform and may close their account before the change takes effect.

1.4 User Eligibility

The Platform is intended for individuals aged sixteen (16) years and above, and for duly registered businesses acting through an authorised representative who is at least eighteen (18) years old. Users must have the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts under Nigerian law. AMTA reserves the right to request proof of age or identity and to suspend accounts where eligibility cannot be verified.

1.5 User Account Registration

Registration requires a valid email address or phone number, a unique username, and accurate personal or business details. Vendor and organiser accounts (for marketplace selling or hosting paid competitions) require additional verification under the Verification Policy. Users are responsible for the accuracy of information supplied at registration and must update it promptly if it changes.

1.6 User Responsibilities

Users must use the Platform lawfully, respect other users' rights, keep login credentials confidential, and comply with the Community Guidelines, Acceptable Use Policy, and any feature-specific rules (such as the Voting & Competition Rules or the Event & Ticketing Policy) that apply to the activity they engage in.

Users are responsible for all activity that occurs under their account, whether or not they personally performed it, except where they can show the account was compromised through no fault of their own and was reported promptly.

1.7 Intellectual Property Rights

AMTA's name, logo, interface design, software and underlying technology are the intellectual property of AMTA or its licensors and may not be copied, reverse-engineered, or used without written permission. Ownership of user-generated content is addressed separately in the Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy.

1.8 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, AMTA is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of the Platform, including losses arising from disputes between users, marketplace transactions between buyers and vendors, or the outcome of a vote or competition. AMTA's aggregate liability to a user for any claim arising from these Terms is limited to the fees, if any, paid by that user to AMTA in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

1.9 Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute not resolved under the Dispute Resolution Policy is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, or such other Nigerian court as AMTA may designate in a specific agreement.
